The multi-page A4 PDF format is designed for easy printing on a standard home printer. Follow these steps to print and assemble it accurately for the best results.

Step 1: Printing the PDF

  • Open the PDF file in a viewer like Adobe Acrobat Reader (free to download if needed).
  • In the print settings, ensure the page scaling is set to “None” or “100%” (do not select “Fit to Page” or any scaling options, as this will distort the pattern dimensions).
  • Use standard A4 paper for precise measurements.
  • Print the entire document in portrait orientation.

Step 2: Verify Scaling with the Calibration Page

  • The first page of the PDF contains a calibration rectangle that should measure exactly 10 cm x 10 cm when printed.
  • After printing this page, use a ruler to measure the rectangle’s sides.
  • If it measures precisely 10 cm on both sides, your printer scaling is correct—proceed to print the remaining pages.
  • If it’s smaller or larger, adjust your printer settings (e.g., disable any auto-scaling or “fit” options) and reprint the calibration page until it’s accurate. Do not proceed without confirming this, as incorrect scaling will ruin the pattern’s fit.

Step 3: Assembling the Pattern

  • Once scaling is verified, print all pages.
  • Each pattern page has a label at the bottom indicating its position, such as “Row 1, Column 1” or “Row 2, Column 3”. This grid system shows how the pages fit together.
  • Lay out the printed pages on a flat surface in the specified row and column order (e.g., Row 1 pages side by side horizontally, then Row 2 below them, and so on) to form the complete pattern.
  • Align the pages so that the pattern lines and markings match up seamlessly across edges.
  • For better assembly and stitching:
    • Trim the right and top margins of each page (up to the edge of the printable area) to remove excess paper and allow for precise overlapping or taping.
    • Overlap or butt the trimmed edges together and secure with tape on the back side.
  • Once assembled, trace or cut out the pattern pieces as needed for your sewing project.

If you encounter any issues or the pattern doesn’t align perfectly, double-check your printer settings and try reprinting. Happy sewing!
